Prima Iron Fer Test (1 Test kit)
The iron self-test is useful for checking the body’s iron reserves. The test is an immunocytological device that detects ferritin levels in the blood.
A decrease in ferritin levels in the blood can be caused, for example, by:
Anaemia Bleeding Impaired iron absorption Tuberculosis Pregnancy Ferritin is the protein used to store iron in the body: the dose of this protein is an excellent indicator of the amount of iron available. Iron is an essential metal for our body and is necessary for the transport of oxygen in the blood, for cell multiplication and for building the structure of tissues and organs. However, if it is present in too high an amount, it can lead to poisoning. Symptoms of poisoning are stomach pain, diarrhoea and blood-tinged vomiting. Low levels of ferritin in the blood indicate that iron is not present in sufficient quantities in the body.

How to perform the test?
Wash hands with soap and wipe with the cleaning gauze. Use the lancet and prick your finger; you can press on your finger to draw more blood into the fingertip. Collect blood from the finger with the pipette up to the black line. Put the blood on the cassette (S). Add 2 drops of the solution onto (S). Wait 5 minutes for the result. Each box contains:
1 test cassette 1 vial with dropper containing solution 2 sterile lancets (needles) 1 pipette for blood sampling 1 cleaning gauze Instructions for use Results: - Positive: The ferritin level in the blood is well below 30 ng/ml, in which case it is necessary to consult a doctor. - Negative: The ferritin level in the blood is above 30 ng/ml. However, a negative test result can occur if the value is just below, for example 27–29 ng/ml.
