Gluten intolerance is a chronic autoimmune disease that involves inflammation in the small intestine due to intake of gliadin: a protein component of gluten. Recent studies have shown that people who suffer from gluten intolerance produce specific antibodies against deamidated gliadin peptides (anti-DGP).
Gliadin is a water-soluble peptide that acts as a “glue”, helping to maintain the shape of food so it can pass through the intestinal epithelium.
Symptoms associated with gluten intolerance include abdominal pain and bloating, chronic diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, weight loss and irritability.
The test is also for those who are genetically predisposed to the disease.
How to perform the test?
Wash hands with soap and wipe with the cleaning gauze. Use the lancet and prick your finger; you can press on your finger to draw more blood into the fingertip. Collect blood from the finger with the pipette up to the black line. Put the blood from the pipette into the vial with the solution. Close the vial and shake. Apply 3 drops onto the cassette (S). Wait 10 minutes for the result. Each box contains the following:
